Should you text prospects?

Prior to texting prospects, be sure they’ve agreed to receiving them from your business. After that, here are a couple places to show up on their phone!

First is text reminders: For less than a dime apiece, your support staff can send reminders to prospects before or after a reminder call — or even manually on their own. For many leads, communicating via text is more convenient than phone calls, which increases the chances of your leads engaging with your text — and showing up to your appointment.

Second is for status updates. It makes communication easy. If you allow prospects to text your office, it ups the convenience of working with your firm, which is especially important if you have questions or want to let them know you’re working hard on their behalf. Telling a prospect that you’re almost done with their plan, while they’re on the bleachers at their grand-daughter’s basketball game is a lot easier – for everyone – than a phone call.

Finally, when you’re setting up a text line, do it right the first time. You could give out your personal cell but keeping up with texts and relaying them to your support staff can quickly become a full-time job. And most don’t expect your personal number. Instead, consider using an SMS texting service. These allow your staff to receive, organize and respond to texts from multiple leads at once.
